The policies below cover key points. If you'd like more detailed information on any of them, I'm happy to share the full policies on request.
What you share in sessions is confidential, except in rare circumstances where there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or where I'm legally required to share information. I keep brief, factual notes about our work together, stored securely and held only for a limited time, in line with professional guidance. You can request to see what I hold about you at any time.
I am committed to keeping everyone safe. If I believe a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk of harm, I have a legal and ethical duty to act, which may include contacting the appropriate authorities. Wherever possible, I will discuss this with you first, unless doing so would increase the risk of harm.
I work with a wide range of issues, including stress, anxiety, identity, relationships, and self-understanding. If your needs fall outside my expertise, I will help you find appropriate support. I also undertake regular clinical supervision to ensure safe and effective practice.
In-person sessions take place in a safe, private, and welcoming therapy room in central Exeter. For online sessions, I use secure, encrypted platforms (such as GoogleMeet) and ask that you find a quiet, private space where you can speak freely. Please make sure your device and connection are stable.
If you arrive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or are unable to engage safely, I may need to end the session early, and the full fee will still apply. If sessions are missed frequently or payment becomes difficult, we can discuss how best to move forward together.
Therapy with me is collaborative and led by you. I review progress regularly to ensure we're on the right track, and I welcome feedback of all kinds - it helps me learn and improve. If you ever have concerns you don't feel able to raise directly, you can contact my professional body, the BACP, with queries or complaints.
